Bandar Abbas: A Worker Dies Amid Lack of Workplace Safety

A Baloch worker lost his life after falling from a 9-story building in Bandar Abbas due to unsafe working conditions.

According to Kolbarews, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, a Baloch construction worker named Abdolghafour Deliri fell from the ninth floor of an unfinished building in Bandar Abbas and died instantly.

Deliri, approximately 50 years old, son of Goharam, was from Kont village, Hidoch district, Sib and Soran County. He was married and had children. Local sources confirmed that he had migrated to Bandar Abbas in search of work to support his family and was employed at a construction site.

Reports indicate the fatal fall occurred due to a lack of basic safety equipment and non-standard working conditions.

Baloch workers, facing severe job shortages in Sistan and Balochistan Province, are often forced to migrate to other cities. However, they are frequently employed in hazardous jobs with inadequate safety measures.

It’s worth noting that in the year 2023, 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) died in work-related accidents in Iran an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year’s 1,900 deaths.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety, a very low position by international standards.
