Balochistan: Malnutrition Crisis Among Baloch Children

The malnutrition crisis among children in Balochistan has reached alarming levels.

According to Kolbarnews, the latest report from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences indicates that approximately 20% of children under the age of five in this region are suffering from malnutrition. This means that one in five Baloch children faces issues such as wasting, underweight, and stunted growth due to a lack of essential nutrients.

The report highlights that food security in Sistan and Balochistan has reached a critical point. Access to sufficient and healthy food, especially for pregnant women and children, has become a significant challenge.

In addition to malnutrition, anemia is another severe health issue in Sistan and Balochistan. The prevalence of anemia across all age groups in this province is double the national average. Over 41% of the population in the region suffers from anemia.

Given the high rates of malnutrition and anemia among pregnant women in provinces like Sistan and Balochistan, southern Kerman, and Hormozgan, experts are calling for urgent nutritional support to address the crisis.
