Abdanan: New prison sentences issued for four political prisoners

Four political prisoners from Abdanan have been handed a combined total of 13 years and 6 months in prison in a new case.

According to Kolbarnews, the four political prisoners; Mohammad Daniali, Vahid Chavaran, Naser Rezaei, and Mohammad Hossein Haseli have each received new sentences from the judiciary of the Islamic Republic amounting collectively to more than 13 years in prison.

According to the report, Branch 2 of the Ilam Provincial Criminal Court (Court of First Instance) issued these rulings.
Under the court’s verdict: Vahid Chavaran and Naser Rezaei were each sentenced to five years in prison on the charge of possessing firearms, Mohammad Daniali was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a Colt pistol, and Mohammad Hossein Haseli was sentenced to one year in prison for assault and battery and six months in prison for possessing a hunting rifle. In addition, the verdict against Mohammad Hossein Haseli includes a fine of 10 million tomans and payment of compensation (diya) to the complainant as a supplementary punishment.

These four prisoners had previously been arrested in connection with another case related to the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Women, Life, Freedom) movement. In that earlier case, Branch 1 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court had sentenced each of them to 12 years in prison on charges of “moharebeh” (enmity against God) and “assembly and collusion against national security,” as well as exile to prisons in Kerman, Zahedan, and Mashhad.

In May 2025, three of the prisoners, Naser Rezaei, Vahid Chavaran, and Mohammad Hossein Haseli were transferred to prisons in Kerman, Zahedan, and Mashhad, respectively. Their arrests had taken place between July and August 2023.

Additionally, Mohammad Daniali, who had earlier been sentenced to two years in prison for “assembly and collusion against national security,” was arrested on Saturday, March 15, 2025, to begin serving his sentence and was transferred to Ilam Central Prison.
