Zahedan: Three Sukhtbars Killed in Vehicle Fire

Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic fire following a collision between a Peugeot 405 and a Saipa vehicle carrying fuel on the Mehristan-Sib and Soran road near the village of Kandeg.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, the collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, resulting in the deaths of all three occupants.
One of the deceased Sukhtbars has been identified as Ebrahim Dehmardeh, approximately 37 years old, the son of Noor Mohammad, married, and a father of three. He was a resident of Zahedan.

The identities of the other two Sukhtbars, who were occupants of the Saipa vehicle, remain unknown as of the time of this report.

The incident occurred the previous evening when the Peugeot, carrying one passenger, collided with the Saipa, which had two occupants. Both vehicles erupted into flames, trapping and killing all three individuals.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
