A Baloch Sukhtbar lost their life due to a vehicle overturn and subsequent fire on the Zahedan-Zabol highway.
According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, a Sukhtbari vehicle overturned and caught fire on the Zahedan-Zabol highway, causing the driver to perish in the flames.
As of the time of reporting, the identity of the deceased Sukhtbar remains unknown.
It is reported that on the morning of the incident, around 9:00 AM, a fuel-carrying passenger vehicle overturned 15 kilometers from the Kal-Sangi checkpoint on the Zahedan-Zabol highway. The vehicle caught fire, and the driver tragically burned to death in the flames.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to undertake due to the lack of suitable and sustainable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, road accidents, and vehicle fires, while 80 others were injured in these incidents, including 9 children.
