Zahedan: Death of a Baloch Sukhtbar Due to Warehouse Fire

A Baloch Sukhtbar tragically lost his life in a fire that engulfed a fuel warehouse.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, a Baloch Sukhtbar died in a blaze caused by a fire in a fuel storage facility.

The deceased Sukhtbar been identified as Abdulraouf Shahouzehi, son of Abdulaziz, a married man with five children from the Kowsar region of Zahedan.

Reports indicate that Abdulraouf was inside his fuel warehouse when gasoline containers caught fire. Due to the intensity of the blaze, he was unable to escape and succumbed to the flames.

This tragic incident underscores the perilous conditions faced by Sukhtbars in the region, who often work in unsafe environments due to economic hardship and lack of job opportunities.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to undertake due to the lack of suitable and sustainable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, road accidents, and vehicle fires, while 80 others were injured in these incidents, including 9 children.
