Systematic pressure and repression against women by agents of the Islamic Republic regime have reportedly led to the tragic death of a young female student in Tehran.
According to Kolbarnews, 16-year-old student Arezoo Khatari, while attending a school field trip, danced without a headscarf or the regime’s mandatory hijab. This act resulted in threats and reprimands from the school principal and the student counselor.
Under this pressure, Khatari allegedly jumped from the sixth floor of a building on Fadaiyan-e Islam Street in Tehran, leading to her death.
In response, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Associations issued a statement condemning the incident, criticizing the ongoing, systemic repression faced by women and girls in Iran.
Iranian women frequently experience restrictive laws and policies motivated by patriarchal and religious doctrines, with authorities playing a prominent role in their enforcement.
In a similar incident on November 2, 2024, a university student identified as Ahoo Daryaei at the Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, reportedly removed her clothing in protest against harassment by Basij members and religious enforcers. Images of her detention circulated widely on social media, sparking significant public reactions and debate.
