Amir Raeesian, a defense attorney, has announced that the Supreme Court has upheld the execution sentence for Pakhshan Azizi.
According to Kolbarnews, Amir Raeesian, the lawyer representing Pakhshan Azizi, stated:
“Following the issuance of the death sentence by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran for Ms. Pakhshan Azizi, we filed an appeal. The appeal was reviewed by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court, but unfortunately, despite numerous flaws in the case, the appeal was rejected, and the death sentence was upheld.”
Pakhshan Azizi, a Kurdish civil activist, had previously been sentenced to death on charges of “armed rebellion against the state” (Baghi).
Her lawyer, Amir Raeesian, has repeatedly emphasized her innocence and called for a review of the verdict. However, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence despite the objections raised.
