Tehran: Sarvenaz Ahmadi Transferred to Hospital Following Evin Prison Women’s Ward Raid

Sarvenaz Ahmadi, a political prisoner and child rights activist, was transferred to the hospital after suffering a nervous breakdown during a raid by Evin Prison guards on the women’s ward.

According to Kolbarnews, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, when female prisoners in Evin protested the execution of Reza Rasaei. In response, prison guards violently attacked the women, resulting in injuries to several inmates who were subsequently taken to the prison clinic.

Sarvenaz Ahmadi was among those affected. She experienced severe muscle spasms that spread from her legs to her abdomen, back, and neck, necessitating her transfer to a hospital for treatment. After receiving medical care, she was returned to Evin Prison.

Sarvenaz Ahmadi, along with her husband Kamyar Fakour, was originally arrested on November 6, 2022, during nationwide protests, just three weeks after their marriage. Though initially released on bail, they were re-arrested on May 8, 2024, and their sentences were enforced. Despite calls from eleven child rights organizations for her release, Ahmadi remains imprisoned.
