Rasoul Bodaghi, a teachers’ union activist, has been conditionally released from Evin Prison.
According to Kolbernews, citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, Bodaghi was released on parole on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Bodaghi, an inspector of the Teachers’ Trade Association, was sentenced in April 2022 by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to four years in prison for “assembly and collusion” and one year for “propaganda against the regime.” This verdict was upheld by the Tehran Appeals Court in June 2022.
He was arrested in May 2022 and transferred to Evin Prison’s general ward in June. Later, in November 2022, he received an additional 4.5-year sentence for “assembly and collusion” and one more year for “propaganda against the regime.”
In March 2024, Iran’s Supreme Court (Branch 32) accepted his request for a retrial regarding these charges.
Bodaghi has a history of imprisonment due to his union activities advocating for teachers’ rights.
