Tehran: Pakhshan Azizi Sentenced to Death

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Pakhshan Azizi to death on charges of “membership in opposition groups.”

According to Kolbarnews, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, sentenced political activist Pakhshan Azizi to death on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, on charges including “membership in opposition groups.” The verdict was delivered to Azizi in Evin Prison, Tehran, despite her court session being held on May 29, 2024.

Pakhshan Azizi, a political activist from Mahabad, was arrested by Tehran’s Intelligence Department forces on August 4, 2023, and transferred to Evin Prison. 

In February 2024, she was formally charged in the fifth branch of the Evin Security Prosecutor’s Office, and her indictment was referred to Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
