Ebrahim Madadi, a well-known labor activist and member of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, is in a critical health condition.
According to Kolbarnews, Ebrahim Madadi, who has been repeatedly arrested and imprisoned in the past for advocating workers’ rights, was detained again on August 12, 2024, and transferred to Evin Prison. He suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and hearing loss, yet lacks access to proper medical care in prison, raising serious concerns among labor activists.
Madadi had previously been convicted on charges such as “establishing an illegal organization” and “assembly and collusion against national security” due to his efforts to revive the Syndicate of Workers. He has served multiple long-term prison sentences.
Labor and human rights activists have expressed deep concern about Madadi’s health, holding the judiciary and prison authorities responsible for his well-being. They have called for urgent medical attention and appropriate treatment facilities for him in prison.
