Reyhaneh Ansari-Nejad, a labor activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, has been deprived of in-person visits with her family since late June. Ansari-Nejad suffers from severe pain in her “spinal discs and neck” and “knee and shoulder ligaments,” which has further heightened her family’s concerns.
According to Kolbarnews, Reyhaneh Ansari-Nejad, a well-known labor activist and member of the Coordination Committee for Assisting in the Formation of Workers’ Organizations, has been held in Evin Prison since June 2024. Authorities at Evin have prevented her from in-person visits with her only child. She endures severe pain in her “spinal discs and neck” as well as “knee and shoulder ligaments,” yet prison officials have refused to transfer her to a hospital.
Reports indicate that Ansari-Nejad has issues with her “knee and shoulder ligaments” in addition to “spinal and neck discs.” A specialist prescribed 20 physiotherapy sessions for her, but prison authorities have thus far obstructed her treatment.
On Monday, November 6, 2023, Reyhaneh Ansari-Nejad, a labor activist, was taken to Evin Prison to begin her four-year sentence after reporting to the Execution of Sentences Branch of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office. As a member of the Coordination Committee for Assisting in the Formation of Workers’ Organizations, she was previously sentenced to four years in prison by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, on charges of “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security.” Her additional sentence includes a two-year ban on political party membership, activity on social media and media platforms, and leaving the country.
