Teachers Dismissed Due to Instagram Posts

Mohammad Habibi, a former political prisoner and spokesperson for the Iranian Teachers’ Union, announced in a social media post that newly hired teachers have been dismissed due to their Instagram posts.

According to Kolbarnews, Mohammad Habibi revealed that many newly employed teachers, referred to as “new teachers,” have been dismissed following the government killing of Jina Amini. These dismissals were due to posts on Instagram and the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Habibi stated, “I have credible information that in just one department of the Gilan Province’s Education Department, dozens of new teachers were dismissed for a single Instagram post. This was not made public because they feared the security repercussions.”

The Telegram channel “Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations” identified two of these individuals as Rouhollah Mardani, a teachers’ union activist in Karaj, and Shahrbanoo Asadi, a teacher from Gilan Province, both of whom received dismissal notices due to their social media posts.
