Tabas: Coal Mine Explosion Kills at Least 52 Workers

At least 52 workers were killed in an explosion at the Tabas coal mine.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Saturday, September 21, 2024, an explosion occurred at the Tabas coal mine due to a methane gas leak, resulting in the death of at least 52 workers, with others reported missing. Several workers were also seriously injured and have been transferred to the hospital.

The explosion took place in one of the mine’s blocks, where rescue operations have since been completed. Efforts are still ongoing to identify and assist workers in Block C of the mine.

Iran is considered one of the unsafe countries in terms of workplace safety, with many workers experiencing accidents annually due to the lack of safety measures.
