Six-Month Sentence for “Mohammad Habibi” Due to Protests Against Serial Poisoning of Students

Mohammad Habibi, spokesperson for the Tehran Teachers’ Association, has been sentenced to six months and one day of imprisonment for protesting the serial poisoning of students.

According to Kolbarnews, the second branch of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court in Tehran province issued a verdict sentencing “Mohammad Habibi,” spokesperson for the Tehran Teachers’ Association, to six months and one day of imprisonment for “propaganda against the regime” due to his protests against the serial poisoning of students. Mr. Habibi’s court session was held on June 30, 2024 in the second branch of the Shahriar court.

Mohammad Habibi was arrested by security forces at his workplace on April 5, 2023, and transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison. Following his arrest, the agents also searched Mr. Habibi’s home.

Mr. Habibi had previously been arrested by security forces in Tehran on April 30, 2022, and was released from Evin prison on February 8, 2023.

The court session addressing Mohammad Habibi’s charges, the spokesperson for the Teachers’ Association, was held on October 12, 2022 at the Evin Court. Ultimately, on November 2022, the 26th branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced him to three years and seven months for “assembly and collusion,” one year for “propaganda against the regime,” and two years of deprivation from activity and membership in groups, and a travel ban.
