According to Kolbarnews, Atefeh Rangriz, a writer, translator, and women’s rights activist, has been detained for 9 days and remains in uncertainty and on a hunger strike in Shahroud Prison. Despite the issuance of a bail order set at one billion and one hundred million tomans for her temporary release, her family’s financial inability to provide this amount has led to her continued detention.
Atefeh Rangriz was detained on June 30, 2023, following a court session addressing her charges and transferred to Shahroud Prison. According to received information, she began a hunger strike simultaneously in protest against her detention order.
Previously, she had been summoned to the specified branch to defend against charges of “forming a group to disrupt national security, propaganda against the regime, and spreading false information on social media to disturb public opinion.”
Atefeh Rangriz was initially detained on September 10, 2023, by security forces in Damghan and transferred to the Intelligence Department’s detention center in Semnan. She was subsequently moved to Shahroud Prison after the completion of her interrogation.
Finally, on October first, 2023, she was released from Shahroud Prison on bail. Ms. Rangriz has a history of arrest and conviction due to her activism.
