Shahroud: Atefeh Rangriz Granted Temporary Leave from Shahroud Prison

Atefeh Rangriz, a writer, translator, and women’s rights activist, has been granted temporary leave from Shahroud Prison.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, October 14, 2024, Atefeh Rangriz was released on leave from Shahroud Prison in the afternoon. Rangriz was initially arrested by security forces in Damghan on September 10, 2023, and was later released on bail on October 21, 2023, after being held in Shahroud Prison.

She was subsequently sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Shahroud to two years, seven months, and sixteen days in prison for “collaboration and membership in opposition groups” and an additional seven months and sixteen days for “propaganda against the regime.”

On June 29, 2024, following a court session related to another case at Branch One of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Damghan, she was again arrested and transferred to Shahroud Prison. Rangriz had previously been arrested and sentenced for her activism.
