Sarbaz: Two Baloch Sukhtbars Killed and Injured in a Car Accident

A Sukhtbar lost his life, and another was injured after a collision between a tanker and a Sukhtbari Saipa pickup truck.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, a tanker collided with a Saipa Sukhtbari vehicle in the village of Malekabad, Sarbaz County. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, one Sukhtbar lost his life, and another was injured.

The deceased Sukhtbar has been identified as 24-year-old Meysam Narouei, and the injured as 35-year-old Mohammad-Rafiq Narouei, both from the village of Seyfabad, Nikshahr County.

Local sources reported that the incident occurred around 3:00 PM when the tanker, attempting to overtake another vehicle, collided with the Saipa truck, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to the passengers.

Sources also mentioned that “Meysam was set to have his wedding next week and was preparing for the event and gathering supplies for his new life.”

Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
