A traffic accident on the Khash-Saravan road left five individuals, including a Baloch Sukhtbar, dead and injured.
According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, a collision between a Peugeot 405 and a Nissan Sukhtbari on the Khash-Saravan road resulted in at least three deaths, including a Sukhtbar, a woman, and a man. Two others, including a child, were injured.
The deceased Sukhtbar was identified as “Mobeen” (last name unknown). The other two fatalities were identified as Abdulbasit Raisi, son of Yaser from Golshan, and Zahra Rigi, 34 years old.
Details about the two injured individuals remain unknown.
Reports indicate that the collision occurred near the Gerenchin junction. A Peugeot 405 with four passengers and a Nissan Sukhtbari with a single occupant collided. In this incident, two passengers from the Peugeot and the Sukhtbar lost their lives. The two injured individuals, a man and a young girl, suffered neck fractures.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
