Ayoub Javanpour, a civil activist from Saqqez, has been released from the city’s prison after posting bail.

According to reports from Kolbarnews, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, Ayoub Javanpour was released on bail. However, his sentence of 15 months of mandatory residence in Bavi County, Khuzestan, will be enforced during this period.

On July 22, 2023, Ayoub Javanpour was sentenced by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, presided over by Judge Keyvan Jahani, to various charges: one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime,” 10 years for “managing a group of more than two people to disrupt national security,” and two years each for “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic” and “insulting the leader of the Islamic Republic.”

Upon appeal, his sentence was reduced to three years in prison.

In a separate case, in July 2023, Javanpour was sentenced by the 105th Branch of Saqqez Criminal Court for “disrupting public order during protests” and “resisting government officers” to one year in prison and 74 lashes. He was acquitted of “insulting Islamic sanctities” in another case related to the removal of the Iranian flag.

Additionally, in September 2023, he was charged with “membership in opposition groups” and “propaganda against the regime through social media posts.” While acquitted of the former, he was sentenced to one year in prison and 15 months of forced residence in Bavi County for the latter. His prison sentence was later reduced to nine months.

Javanpour was initially arrested on June 10, 2023, by security forces in a violent raid without presenting a judicial warrant. He was taken to the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center in Sanandaj for interrogation and was later transferred to Saqqez Prison.
