Susan Razani, a prominent and veteran women’s rights activist in Sanandaj and a member of the Chalchemeh mountaineering group, was summoned and interrogated by the intelligence unit of the police force.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Susan Razani was summoned for questioning and subsequently released after several hours of interrogation and threats.
Razani was previously arrested during widespread detentions in Sanandaj on Saturday, October 29, 2022. She was held at an undisclosed location and eventually released on Sunday, November 13, 2022, on bail pending further judicial proceedings.
In her long history of activism, Razani was also arrested on May 1, 2008, during a May Day ceremony alongside Shiva Kheirabadi, Abdullah Khani, and Seyed Ghaleb Hosseini. They were later sentenced by the Sanandaj Criminal Court:
Susan Razani: 9 months of suspended imprisonment for three years and 70 lashes.
Shiva Kheirabadi: 4 months of suspended imprisonment for three years and 40 lashes.
Abdullah Khani: 91 days of imprisonment and 40 lashes.
Seyed Ghaleb Hosseini: 6 months of imprisonment and 40 lashes.
On February 18, 2009, the sentences of lashes and imprisonment were carried out for all four activists.
Additionally, on April 13, 2014, Razani and other labor activists, including Khaled Hosseini, Ghaleb Hosseini, Abbas Andriari, Kourosh Bakhshandeh, and Majid Hamidi, were summoned by the Sanandaj Intelligence Office, where they faced explicit threats during interrogations.
Razani’s repeated confrontations with authorities highlight the ongoing repression of activists advocating for women’s rights and labor causes in Iran.
