Sanandaj: Prison Sentence for Serveh Pourmohammadi Reduced from Ten to Five Years

The prison sentence of Serveh Pourmohammadi, a member of the Nozhin Cultural-Social Association, has been reduced to five years by the Kurdistan Province Court of Appeals. She had previously been sentenced to ten years in prison in the preliminary trial.

According to Kolbarnews, the Kurdistan Appeals Court issued a new ruling sentencing Serveh Pourmohammadi to five years in prison on charges of “forming groups and factions with the aim of disrupting national security.” This is a reduction from the ten-year sentence previously handed down by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj.

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, Serveh Pourmohammadi was arrested by security forces while seeking information about the detained members of the Nozhin Cultural-Social Association at the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. She was temporarily released on bail on Tuesday, February 13, 2023, pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
