Sanandaj: Majid Karimi and Masoud Farheikhteh sentenced to fines

Majid Karimi and Masoud Farheikhteh, two union activists and teachers, were sentenced by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to pay fines instead of imprisonment.

According to Kolbarnews, citing the Coordination Council of Teachers’ Associations of Iran, Majid Karimi and Masoud Farheikhteh, two teacher union activists, were sentenced to fines instead of imprisonment.
According to the verdict issued by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, these two teacher union activists were sentenced to three months of imprisonment, which was converted to a fine of eight million Tomans.

The report states: Their participation in protest gatherings, delivering speeches, and supporting imprisoned teachers were cited as the basis for their charges in the court ruling.

Masoud Farheikhteh, a member of the board of directors of the Teachers’ Guild Association in Islamshahr, was detained at his home in Karaj by security forces on May first, 2023, and transferred to Qazalhazar Prison in Karaj. He was eventually released from prison with bail in June 2023.

Majid Karimi, a teacher union activist in Kurdistan, was also arrested during the teachers’ protests in 2022 and was released on bail shortly thereafter.
