Sanandaj; Labor Activists Threatened Ahead of International Women’s Day

In recent days, as International Women’s Day approaches, security forces have threatened a group of labor activists in Sanandaj through phone calls, warning them against organizing events for the occasion.

According to Kolbarnews, security forces from the Sanandaj Intelligence Office have contacted and threatened several labor activists, warning them that any attempt to organize, gather, or participate in International Women’s Day events on March 8 will result in legal action.

The activists who have been threatened include Tayeb Chetani, Lotfollah Ahmadi, Eqbal Shabani, Khabat Dehdar, and Jamal Asadi.

These threats come despite the fact that civil rights activists, the women’s movement, and the labor movement in Kurdistan hold various events every year to mark International Women’s Day in different cities.
