Sanandaj: Idris Menbari Sentenced to Prison

Idris Menbari, a Kurdish language instructor, has been sentenced by the appeals court to one year of imprisonment and one year of suspended imprisonment over a three-year period.

According to Kolbarnews, the regime’s appeals court overturned the initial ten-year prison sentence of Idris Menbari, a civil activist, Kurdish language instructor, and board member of the Nozhin organization. The new ruling imposes one year of actual imprisonment and an additional one year suspended sentence, enforceable over three years.

The charge against Mr. Menbari has been stated as “forming groups and organizations with the intent to disrupt national security.”

Previously, Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Karami, sentenced Idris Menbari and Sarwa Pourmohammadi to ten years in prison. The verdict was later referred to the appeals court and subsequently overturned.
