Sanandaj: 568 Days of Uncertainty and Temporary Detention for Sardar Shahmoradian

Sardar Shahmoradian, a medical equipment student from Sanandaj, has spent 568 days in uncertainty and temporary detention.

According to Kolbarnews, Sardar Shahmoradian, 28, a medical equipment student at the Applied Science University of Sanandaj, was arrested by the city’s Intelligence Agency officers on December 27, 2022. 

His arrest took place during the Jina revolutionary uprising and on the 40th day of the memorial for the martyrs of this uprising in Sanandaj. Since then, he has been held in the city’s central prison without clear charges or trial.

A source informed Kolbarnews that Shahmoradian endured severe torture during two months of detention at the Sanandaj Intelligence Agency’s facility to extract a forced confession. The signs of torture were evident on his body. After those two months, he was transferred to the “Central Prison of Sanandaj” under a temporary detention order.

Despite ongoing efforts by his family and friends to obtain information and seek justice from the security agencies in Sanandaj and Kurdistan province, there has been no progress or response regarding his case.
