A Baluch Sukhtbar lost his life after a vehicle overturned during a military chase near the Rutek border.
According to Kolbarnews, a Baluch Sukhtbar passed away in the hospital on October 31, 2024, due to severe injuries sustained when his vehicle overturned and caught fire on Monday, October 28, 2024, during a military chase in the Rutek border region.
The identity of the deceased Sukhtbar has been confirmed as “Bahman Shahnavazi,” son of Sharbat, a resident of Khash.
Local sources reported: “On Monday, Bahman was pursued by military officers from Rutek Mile 122 in the Khash border region. During the chase, he veered off the main road, causing his vehicle to overturn and catch fire, resulting in severe burns. He succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to the hospital.”
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
