Following a collision between two vehicles in Rask County, a Baloch citizen lost his life, and a Sukhtbar driver was injured.
According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, July 22, 2024, a collision occurred between a Toyota Land Cruiser Sukhtbari vehicle, and a passing Pride car at the Pishin junction in Rask County.
One Baloch citizen died, and the Sukhtbar driver was injured.
The deceased has been identified as “Abdolghani Behi,” a resident of Pishin and a guard at the Pishin dam. The Sukhtbar driver has been identified as “Abdolhaq” (last name unknown), a resident of Sohrben village in the Kishkor district of Sarbaz County.
According to local sources: “At the Pishin junction, the collision between the Toyota Land Cruiser and the passing Pride car resulted in the Pride driver dying from severe injuries, while the Sukhtbar driver was seriously injured and transferred to the hospital in Rask.”
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face.
According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
