Qorveh: Workplace Safety Neglect Leads to Death of a Worker

Due to the lack of workplace safety and poor working conditions, Rahmatollah Bakhtiari, a miner at Qorveh gold mine, lost his life.

According to Kulbarnews, on the evening of Sunday, November 17, 2024, a worker at Qorveh gold mine died because of inadequate safety measures and unsuitable work conditions. The worker has been identified as 48-year-old Rahmatollah Bakhtiari. Reports indicate that Mr. Bakhtiari was working in the crushing unit when he was struck by a bulldozer, resulting in his death.

Rahmatollah Bakhtiari, aged 48, was married and the father of three children.

In 2023, a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) died in workplace accidents, reflecting an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, when 1,900 fatalities were recorded. Iran ranks 102nd globally in workplace safety, a very low standing.

Iran remains one of the most hazardous countries for workplace safety, with a significant number of workers suffering accidents annually due to inadequate safety protocols.
