A 12-year-old Baloch child lost his life due to drowning in the Shusef Dam in Nahbandan.
According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, a 12-year-old Baloch child drowned and died after falling into the Shusef Dam in Nehbandan.
The identity of the child has been reported as Benyamin Sarani, from Shusef, a district of Nehbandan.
The report states that Benyamin’s body was discovered by local residents after six hours of effort and search.
Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
