More than seven hundred trade union, cultural, and political activists, by writing a statement, demanded the “unconditional release” of Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi, labor activists, stating that “there is no place for these individuals in prison.”
The content of this statement:
“We consider Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi to be conscientious and thoughtful individuals who have no place in prison whatsoever; therefore, we demand their unconditional release. Both Anisha Asadollahi and Keyvan Mehregan, who are both writers, translators, and activists in the labor field, were arrested by the agents of the Islamic Republic Ministry of Intelligence on April 8, 2024. After a long period in solitary confinement, Keyvan Mehregan and Anisha Asadollahi were ultimately sentenced to 6 years and 5 years and 8 months in prison, respectively, on charges of ‘assembly and collusion against national security’ and ‘propaganda against the system.’ Keyvan Mehregan, who is currently the only imprisoned member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, has been deprived of furlough during the two years of his detention. Anisha Asadollahi, who was temporarily released on August 20, 2022, was transferred to Evin Prison on July 26, 2023, and is currently in the women’s ward there.”
