Two Baloch Sukhtbars were severely injured following a mine explosion at the Rutak border.
According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, October 18, 2024, two Baloch Sukhtbars were seriously injured after a mine planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) exploded at the Rutak border, located in Mirjaveh County.
The injured Sukhtbars have been identified as Aref Shahnavazi and Mobin Shahnavazi, both residents of Mirjaveh.
The report states that the Sukhtbars were transporting fuel along with several other vehicles when a mine exploded. Aref sustained severe injuries to his leg, while Mobin was seriously injured in his hand. Both were quickly transferred to a medical center by their companions.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
