Mehrestan: A Baloch Sukhtbar Injured Following a Collision Between Two Vehicles

A Baloch Sukhtbar was injured in Mehrestan County after a collision and fire involving two vehicles.

According to Kulbarnews, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, a collision and subsequent fire between two Saipa Sukhtbari vehicles occurred near the Nakpehan junction in Mehrestan County, leaving one of the vehicle occupants seriously injured.

The identity of the injured Sukhtbar is unknown as of the time of this report.

Local sources stated: “Yesterday afternoon, a collision between two Sukhtbari pickup trucks resulted in a fire, leaving one of the occupants severely injured due to burns.”

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
