Marivan: Four Teachers’ Union Activists Sentenced to Prison

Aram Mohammadi, Tahsin Mostafa, Sivan Soleimani, and Aram Qaderi, teachers’ union activists from Kurdistan, have each been sentenced to four months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Marivan. The sentences have been suspended for two years.

According to Kolbarnews, four teachers’ union activists in Kurdistan-Marivan have been sentenced to prison. Aram Mohammadi, Tahsin Mostafa, Sivan Soleimani, and Aram Qaderi were each sentenced to four months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Marivan on charges of “propaganda against the regime.” The sentences against these activists have been suspended for two years.

Mohammadi, Mostafa, Soleimani, and Qaderi were arrested by security forces on June 16, 2022, during teachers’ protest gatherings and were released on bail the following day. These union activists were summoned to the first branch of the Marivan Prosecutor’s Office on February 8, 2023, to present their final defense.

The indictment against them was issued in April 2023 by the review branch of the Marivan Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.
