Marivan: Death of a Worker Due to Lack of Workplace Safety

Jalil Rahimi, a 42-year-old worker from Marivan, who was seriously injured 10 days ago due to the fall of a concrete beam, has died at Hospital in Sanandaj.

According to Kolbarnews, Jalil Rahimi, a married resident of Balcheh Sower village and living in Marivan, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. The accident occurred in a workplace lacking adequate safety measures. Following the incident, Rahimi fell into a coma and, despite medical efforts, passed away.

This tragedy highlights the broader safety crisis in Iran’s labor sector. In 2022, 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year’s 1,900 fatalities. Globally, Iran ranks 102nd in workplace safety, underscoring its significant shortcomings in ensuring safe working conditions.
