Mahabad; Release of a Political Prisoner on Bail

Mohsen Ahmadzadeh, a political prisoner from Mahabad, has been released on bail after nearly three years.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, Mohsen Ahmadzadeh, a 38-year-old resident of the village of Kose Kriz in Mahabad, was released from prison after serving two years, eight months, and 21 days. 

His release was secured by posting a bail of three billion tomans.

Mohsen Ahmadzadeh was initially arrested on Saturday, November 13, 2021, two weeks after a temporary release. 

He was detained upon being summoned to the Mahabad court and transferred to the city’s prison. 

Ahmadzadeh was first arrested on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, by security forces in Mahabad, taken to one of Urmia’s security detention centers for interrogation, and eventually transferred to Mahabad prison after the investigation was completed.
