Mahabad: Arrest of a Citizen by SecurityForces

Abdollah Qoveh, a resident of Mahabad, has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location. With his arrest, the total number of detainees in Mahabad has risen to 13.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Monday, December 16, 2024, security forces in Mahabad arrested a citizen named Abdollah Qoveh. The report states that the security forces carried out the arrest and transfer without presenting any judicial warrant.

In a separate report, on the evening of Saturday, December 14, 2024, security forces raided the family homes of Rahman Dana and Salar Shamsi-Borhan, two residents of the village of “Kolijeh,” a suburb of Mahabad. Both individuals were arrested and transferred to undisclosed locations.

Additionally, early on Sunday, December 15, 2024, two brothers, Rebwar Rasouli and Ayoub Rasouli, residents of Mahabad, were arrested by the IRGC Intelligence forces in the city. Simultaneously, security forces raided the family home of Osman (Shwaneh) Jahani-Far and arrested him.

On the same day, Sunday, December 15, 2024, seven more individuals—identified as Yousef Qal, Aram Mabzoleh, Zanyar Seyed-Ahmadi, Siamand Seyed-Ahmadi (from the village of “Bayram,” near Mahabad), as well as Ghader Kheraman-Far, Kamal Masoudi, and Jalal Sadafi—were also arrested by security forces in Mahabad and taken to unknown locations.

The report emphasizes that all these arrests were carried out without judicial warrants. According to informed sources, the 13 detainees have been transferred to a security detention center in Urmia for interrogation.

As of the time this report was compiled, there is no information regarding the reasons for the arrests, the detainees’ whereabouts, or the charges brought against them.
