Mahabad: Amir Baboli Transferred to Prison to Serve Sentence

Amir Baboli, a resident of the village of Laj in Mahabad County, has been detained and transferred to Mahabad Prison to serve a seven-year sentence.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Amir Baboli was arrested to begin his imprisonment. He had been sentenced by the First Branch of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court to six years in prison for “membership in an opposition party to the Islamic Republic of Iran and propaganda against the regime.” Additionally, the Criminal Court Two of Mahabad, Branch 101, sentenced him to one year in prison for “possession and storage of weapons.”

Reliable sources indicate that he was acquitted of the charges of “waging war against God (Moharebeh) and corruption on Earth (Efsad-e-Fil-Arz).”

Amir Baboli was initially arrested on Saturday, July 16, 2022, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia for interrogation. On Sunday, February 12, 2023, he was temporarily released from Mahabad Prison on heavy bail, pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
