Jalil Mohammadi, is one of most well-known activists in labor movement in Kurdistan. On Wednesday, 7 January 2011, agents from Intelligence Ministry raided home of this labor activist and searched his home under pretext that he and several other workers were trying to establish labor organizations in Sanandaj.
This labor activist has been arrested and imprisoned many times before, throughout 2012. He was arrested on 16 June 2012, along with a group of labor activists, and sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence.
On 7 March 2016, at around 2:00 PM, security forces in Sanandaj city raided home of labor activist Jalil Mohammadi, arrested him, and transferred him to an unknown location.
Considering that Jalil Mohammadi was working in neighboring cities at time, intelligence agents, in response to his family, stated that reason for this action was need to obtain some explanations about Jalil Mohammadi.
It should be noted that Jalil has been detained several times by police security forces and has been in detention for a long time without knowing that there will be a court. Jalil family spent most of their days in front of Sanandaj prison.
On Tuesday, 3 December 2019, Jalil Mohammadi, a labor activist and member of Coordination Committee for Establishment of Labor Organizations, was arrested by security forces at his workplace in Sanandaj and transferred to an unknown location.
Following popular protests in various cities in Kurdistan, a new wave of summons and arrests of civil activists and former political prisoners has increased.
Also, 128 Kurdish citizens have been arrested by security forces during recent 2019 protests in provinces of Ilam, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, and West Azerbaijan.
During Jalil Mohammadi’s arrest, his mother’s house was searched and officers took away all of his books, mobile phone, flash drive, and personal computer.
According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, 24 January 2025, Jalil Mohammadi, a well-known and prominent activist in labor movement and a member of Coordination Committee to Help Establish Labor Organizations, was arrested by security forces in Sanandaj city and taken to an unknown location, one day after a strike by shopkeepers and marketers in various cities of Kurdistan to protest death sentence.
Security forces have arrested Jalil Mohammadi without providing a judicial warrant.
No information is available about reasons for arrest and charges brought against Jalil Mohammadi.
Jalil Mohammadi has a history of being arrested and sentenced in court before due to his civil and labor activities.
On Wednesday, 2 February 2025, marketers and shopkeepers in various cities in Kurdistan, including Sanandaj, Saqqez, Kamyaran, Divandareh, and Marivan, stopped their daily activities and went on strike in protest of death sentence.
