Labor: 29 Titanium Mine Workers Fired, Others Strike in Solidarity

Employers at the Kahnooj Titanium Mine have fired 29 workers, prompting other employees to go on strike in protest.

According to Kolbarews, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, 29 workers were dismissed from the Kahnooj Titanium Mine. The layoffs followed the end of the contracting company’s agreement with Yazdan Soren and the new contractor Pasargad’s decision not to renew the contracts of 105 personnel. In response, all 105 mine workers went on strike.

Reports indicate that among the 105 personnel, 20 were non-local workers who were let go. Of the 85 remaining local workers, 76 were rehired by Pasargad, while 9 have yet to be called back to work.

These layoffs follow a similar wave in September 2024 when Yazdan Soren dismissed around 60 local workers, citing the end of the contract and lack of need. The continued silence of local officials and representatives in Kahnooj has raised concerns among the workers.

The Kahnooj Titanium Mine, located 25 kilometers south of Kahnooj County, is considered one of the largest titanium mines in the world.
