Somayeh Akhtarshomar, a teacher at a school in Marivan, has been dismissed from her job by the Kurdistan Province Employees’ Administrative Offenses Disciplinary Board.
According to Kolbarnews, citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the Marivan Education Department, in a letter dated January 13, 2023, accused Ms. Akhtarshomar of “publishing insulting and false information against the Islamic Republic, active membership in illegal teachers’ union channels on social media, posting provocative content in the Marivan and Sarvabad teachers’ union channel and Iranian teachers’ union, designing English exam questions in support of protesters (mentioning protesters in comprehension and language questions) and sharing them on social media, supporting Kurdish opposition parties and sharing it on social media, posting images of herself without a hijab on social media and supporting divisive slogans, posting images of students without hijab and rebellious slogans on social media, posting images of her child in Kurdish party attire on her personal page with slogans and the Kurdish flag, and posting content in the Iranian teachers’ union channels.”
The Kurdistan Province Employees’ Administrative Offenses Disciplinary Board, based on the letter from the Marivan Education Department, issued the dismissal of this teacher on March 16, 2024.
Somayeh Akhtarshemar has 17 years of experience as an English teacher in the education system.
