Khorramabad: Two Merchants from Javanroud Killed in a Chase by Regime Forces

Two merchants from the city of Javanroud, lost their lives after being shot at by security forces, leading to their vehicle overturning.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, August 30, 2024, during a pursuit and shooting by regime military forces targeting a merchant’s vehicle, the car overturned, resulting in the death of two people. 

The identities of the deceased have been confirmed as “Barzan Vaisi” and “Kaveh Khosravipour,” both from the city of Javanrud.

The incident occurred near Khorramabad, where regime forces, suspecting the vehicle of carrying goods, opened fire on it. However, the vehicle was carrying a type of resin from the pistachio tree, which is used in both gum production and for its medicinal properties. Collecting this resin is a source of income for the people of Javanroud, Paveh, Salas Babajani, and other areas in the Zagros Mountain range.

According to statistics recorded by Kolbarnews, in the first six months of 2024, a total of 270 Kolbars in the border areas and inter-road routes of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah provinces were killed or injured due to factors such as direct shooting by the regime’s military forces, avalanches and frostbite, stepping on mines, falling from mountains and heights, and other incidents. 

Out of this number, a total of 34 Kolbars (13%) were killed and 236 Kolbars (87%) were injured.

Of the 270 Kolbars who were killed or injured in the first six months of 2024, a total of 222 cases (82%) were due to direct shooting or beatings by the regime’s military forces.

Additionally, of the 270 Kolbars who were killed or injured in the first six months of 2024 in the Kurdish border region, 20 of them were children under the age of 18.

Comparing the statistics of the first six months of 2024 with the same period in 2023, we have witnessed a 218% increase in the killing and injuring of Kolbarn in the Kurdish border region.
