A Baloch sukhtbar tragically lost his life after his vehicle plunged into a ravine in the Karavandar area of Khash County.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, a Sukhtbari vehicle lost control and fell into a ravine, causing fatal injuries to the driver.
The Sukhtbar has been identified as Alireza Barahouei, 20 years old, son of Soleiman, a resident of Zahedan.
The incident occurred around 1:00 AM, under circumstances yet to be determined. Alireza’s vehicle lost control in the Karavandar area, leading to the fatal accident.
This tragedy highlights the persistent dangers faced by sukhtbars in Balochistan, who often risk their lives due to economic hardships and the lack of safe employment opportunities in the region.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to undertake due to the lack of suitable and sustainable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, road accidents, and vehicle fires, while 80 others were injured in these incidents, including 9 children.
