Kerman: Death of a Mine Worker in Conveyor Belt Accident

A 40-year-old coal mine worker in Hashuni, Kerman Province, lost his life while working with a conveyor belt.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, Abdullah Ismaili, a 40-year-old coal mine worker in Hashuni, Kerman Province, was involved in an accident while working with a conveyor belt and suffered severe injuries. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, the worker lost his life while being transferred to the hospital.

The Hashuni coal mine, which is a subsidiary of Kerman Coal Company, is located near the city of Koohbanan.

This unfortunate incident occurs while simultaneously, two petrochemical workers in Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex in Mahshahr also lost their lives due to falling from height.

According to statistics published by the Legal Medicine Organization in 2023, 2115 people lost their lives due to work-related accidents. However, the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare has announced the number of fatalities as 618.

The discrepancy in the statistics provided by these two governmental institutions indicates the depth of the tragedy and the negligence towards the safety of workers in many workplaces, especially those outside the scope of labor law.
