Farhad Sheikhi, a labor activist from Saqqez residing in Hashtgerd, Karaj, has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment and additional penalties by the Islamic Revolutionary Court.
According to Kolbarnews, in recent days, Farhad Sheikhi, a labor activist from Saqqez living in Hashtgerd, Karaj, was sentenced by the first branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Karaj, presided over by Judge Asef Hosseini, to one year of imprisonment for “propaganda against the regime.”
Additionally, he has been sentenced to two years of travel ban from Iran, two years of exile to the city of Divandarreh, and a two-year ban from residing in the provinces of Alborz and Tehran.
Based on a summons issued by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj on May 26, 2024, the court session to address Farhad Sheikhi’s charges was scheduled for June 19, 2024.
Previously, on October 2, 2023, Farhad Sheikhi had been summoned to the same court for “propaganda activities against the regime.”
An arrest warrant for this labor activist was issued by the sixth branch of the Hashtgerd Prosecutor’s Office in July 2023. Farhad Sheikhi was arrested by security forces at his home in Hashtgerd, Karaj, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and was later transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. He was also arrested by security forces at his home on January 21, 2023, and subsequently transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison. On February 6, 2023, he was transferred to the Central Detention Center of Karaj and was eventually released on February 7, 2023, following an amnesty decree.
It is noteworthy that this labor activist has previously been arrested and convicted due to his union and labor activities.
