Kanarak; Death of a Baluch child due to falling into a Hootak (water pit).

A 5-year-old Baluch child fell into a Hootak (water pit) in Kanarak County and lost his life.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, a Baluch child in Khalijabad village of Kanarak County fell into a Hootak and lost his life. 

The identity of this Baluch child is “Ayesha Bomair,” a five-year-old from Khalijabad village, Kanarak. 

According to the report, following recent rainfall, this Hootak had filled with water, and Ayesha was playing near it when she fell into it and lost her life.

It is worth mentioning that in the first four months of the year 2024 AD, at least 9 Baluch children lost their lives due to falling into Hootak.

Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.

According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
