Kamiyaran: “Amanj Ghorbani” Released on Bail

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Amanj Ghorbani, an environmental activist, was temporarily released on bail after five days of detention.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, July 29, 2024, Amanj Ghorbani, an environmental activist who had been arrested along with several others during the funeral of Esmail Karimi on July 24, was temporarily released on bail.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after the funeral of the deceased environmental activist “Esmail Karimi,” security forces in Kamiyaran arrested at least ten environmental activists. 

The identities of eight of them, namely “Hesam Mahdi,” “Amir Nadimi,” “Farideh Veisi,” “Hamid Sabzeh,” “Amanj Ghorbani,” “Khalil Parandak,” “Yaser Nouri,” and “Farzin Movafaqi,” have been confirmed by Kolbar News.

Esmail Karimi, on Monday, July 22, 2024, went to the “Kanieshe” forest area near Kamiyaran with other environmental activists to control a wildfire and suffered severe burns (80%). Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Karimi was transported by emergency helicopter to Kosar Hospital in Sanandaj, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit because of the critical condition of his injuries. 

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the body of “Esmail Karimi” was laid to rest in the village of Najafabad in Kamiyaran amidst a large turnout of people from Kamiyaran and Kurdistan.
