Kahnooj: Sukhtbar Severely Injured After Being Run Over by Military Vehicle

Military forces in Kahnooj pursued and opened fire on a Sukhtbari vehicle before brutally assaulting the driver and running over his legs with their vehicle.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, military forces in Kahnooj County chased and shot at a Sukhtbari vehicle, forcing it to stop. They then dragged the Sukhtbar driver out, severely beat him, and deliberately ran over his legs, causing multiple fractures.

The injured Sukhtbar has been identified as Rouhollah Ravand, 30 years old, from Roodbar Jonub.

A local source stated that after stopping the vehicle through pursuit and gunfire, military personnel forcibly removed the driver from the car. Following a violent beating, as Rouhollah Ravand lay on the ground, they ran over his legs with their vehicle, breaking both of them.

Reports indicate that after committing this act, the military forces immediately fled the scene.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
