Iranshahr: Two Baloch Sukhtbars Killed in Vehicle Overturn

Two Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives in a vehicle overturn on the Bam-Iranshahr road.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, two Baloch Sukhtbars were killed when their vehicle overturned.

The identities of the deceased have been confirmed as Mohammad Qayoom Dehghani, and “Babal,” both from the village of Sardap in the Naskand district of Sarbaz County.

According to the report, Mohammad Qayoom died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Babal was transferred to the emergency services on the Bam-Kerman highway.

Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face.

According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
